Abstract
Background: Interferon alpha treatment is a first choice therapy in children with chronic hepatitis caused by HBV infection.
Case report: The aim of the study was to present the IFN alpha application in chronic hepatitis as a cause of HBV superinfection in a 9-year-old child with diagnosed linear IgA bullous dermatosis (LABD). During 20-week
IFN alpha therapy we did not observe side-effects of the treatment; we observed HBeAg/antiHBe seroconversion, normalization of AlAT activity, regression of HBV DNA polymerase activity in blood serum and improvement
of skin lesions.
Conclusions: The disease history analysis of the treated boy indicates that application of IFN alpha in chronic hepatitis caused by HBV superinfection is possible in treatment of individual cases of children with autoimmunity
disorders. The clear-sighted monitoring of liver function and autoimmunity parameters are recommended.
