Bilateral ocullar metastases from bronchial carcinoid in a 57-year old woman

Background: The incidence of eye metastatic tumors is very low and reaches 8 % of all eye neoplasms. The cases witch eye metastatic carcinoid tumor is extremely rare.Case Report: We report case of a 57-year old woman who had surgery because tumor of bronchi 10 years before and after this period orbital CT demonstrated tumor masses within both eyes. Right ophthalmology was performed and carcinoid tumor was diagnosed on histological examination of the removed eye. Conclusions: The presently reported case is probably, the first carcinoid metastatic eye tumor recognized in Poland. It proves the possibility of malignant metastatic process developing many years after surgical excision of primary located tumor. These findings come to necessity of wide prolongation of “cancer free” period in observed follow up.
