Abstract
Background: Operations on gall bladder and bile ducts belong to the surgical procedures most frequently performed in Poland.
Case report: A scheduled surgical procedure was performed on a 33-year-old female patient with symptomatic cholelithiasis. She was subjected to laparoscopic cholecystectomy involving standard resection of the gall bladder
containing a single deposit. After 10 months the patient required relaparotomy due to persistent pains of biliary colic type. The surgery revealed a second inflamed gall bladder containing an impacted deposit. Repeated cholecystectomy resulted in regression of all previously observed symptoms.
Conclusions: In the cases of bile duct surgery, the possibility of encountering anatomical variations which may require modification of surgical tactics must be always taken into consideration.
