Abstract
Background: Primary malignant lymphoma of the central nervous system (CNS) is a rare tumor, with predilection for the basal ganglia, corpus callosum and paraventricular area. Involvement of internal acoustic meatus is
rarely described in literature. We are going to report a case of lymphomatous involvement of bilateral internal acoustic meati.
Case report: A 24-years-old man presented with symptoms of raised intracranial pressure and progressive left-sided sensorineural hearing loss. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed multiple enhancing periventricular lesions around both lateral ventricles. Soft tissue thickening with abnormal contrast enhancement was demonstrated in bilateral internal acoustic meati by MRI only.
Subsequent brain biopsy confirmed high grade B-cell lymphoma.
Conclusion: A case of primary CNS lymphoma with unusual site of involvement of bilateral internal acoustic meati is reported. MRI is superior to CT for detection of lymphomatous involvement at this atypical location.
