Background: The rapid development of laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been associated with a change in the spectrum of complications previously seen during the era of open cholecystectomy. We report what we believe to be the first case of postoperative colonic-bronchial fistula following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Case Report: A 44 year old male underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which was complicated by postoperative haemorrhage, intra-abdominal sepsis, multiorgan failure and empyema. He went on to develop a colonic-bronchial fistula, which following attempted conservative management require operative treatment to close it. Conclusions: We report a previously unreported complication of laparoscopic cholecystectomy a colonic-bronchial fistula. We describe how this occurred, and review the management and the aetiology on this complication.
