Background: Contrast-induced complete blindness(CB) is an uncommon, but well recognized, complication after cardiac catheterization.
Case Report: A 52-year-old man with previous coronary artery by-pass surgery developed cortical blindness after coronary angiography. Selective vulnerability of the occipital lobes to contrast agent was postulated as the underlying mechanism. The patient had complete recovery of vision.
Conclusions: There is no specific measure to be taken for protection against this unusual and alarming complication.
