Abstract:
Background: We would like to present an interesting case of abdominal pain, which we witnessed in our department a few months previous, bringing to light the changing prevalence of diverticular disease and possible changes in the simple management of constipation.
Case Report: The patient was a middle aged Caucasian female who presented with severe non-specific abdominal pain without obvious cause despite thorough initial investigation.
Conclusions: The case highlights the importance of how abdominal pain without a diagnosis at presentation should be taken seriously and the lessons taken from the case impacting on future practice.
